Spring 2013 RTW: Araks
Araks Spring 2013 Collection drew inspiration from the Victorian period's effect on traditional Japanese dress. Pulling from both Eastern and Western culture creates a totally modern and still classic collection. The slightly over-sized silhouettes brings a little playfulness to this somewhat stern collection. A perfect example of this is the voluminous black pants that taper at the ankle, inspired by those worn by Japanese farmers. I love the minimal color palette Araks chose, mainly black and white with smatterings of grey and pops of orange. As orange is the color I am most anxious to experiment with this fall, I was very excited to see it carrying on into next Spring. Overall, this is a very understated, yet extremely quirky collection. Love it!
