CHRIS BENZ, I LOVE YOU. The chunky knits tied casually around the waist of wrinkled floral trousers and sheer, embellished tops. The almost orthopedic black and white loafer. Even the model's crimped hair! This collection is so tired that it is completely fresh. It feels like the trunk full of clothes you stumble upon in the attic that belonged to an ancient and long dead great aunt. But in the best possible way! The extreme layering and somewhat mangled condition of the clothes really play on this aesthetic. The addition of black as the collection progresses really gives the whole thing an air of morbidity.
I want every single piece (to wear both together in a wrinkled mass or separately for a less "bag-lady" approach) and because Benz has decided that beginning with this collection he is lowering his price-point to make his clothes more affordable to his ever-growing troop of loyal fans, I may just get my wish.
